THE DEFINITION OF ORPHANS IN ISLAMIC SHARIA
Fath Al-Qarib and Al-Baijuri state: "An orphan is a young child (underage) without a father, regardless of whether the child is male or female or has a grandfather. This includes small children of adultery, children of collecting, and children denied owing to a husband and wife's divorce. He is no longer considered an orphan when he reaches puberty at the age of fifteen lunar years."
However, the Malaysian Malay community has another name, Yatim Piatu, which refers to persons who have lost both their mother and father, despite the fact that this phrase does not exist in Islamic law. Orphans are children whose father died when they were young or still minors. Islam commands humanity to establish a positive connection with orphans, to provide them with care and education, and to grant them their rights.
God's word, which means:
"This is why you shouldn't look down on orphans." (Al-Dhuha)
"Do you know people who don't believe in religion? That is, people who tell orphans what to do?" (al-Maun)
As Surah An-Nisa verse 6 says, it is also against Islam to eat orphans' property in a cruel way.
